The history of McGard began in 1959 with the
company L.D. McCauley, at that time still specialising in precision
assignments for NASA and the US military. In the early sixties Lewis
D McCauley developed a safety nut that prevented the theft of wheel
rims and tyres. This gave rise in 1964 to McGard, Inc., the world’s
leading manufacturer and provider of antitheft wheel locks.
 The
eighties saw the addition of other products, our Special Industrial
Applications. Our Special Products Division, in short SPD, was set
up to cater to new markets and product applications outside of the
automotive sector. Over recent years this line also evolved magnificently
and catapulted McGard to the world’s leading manufacturer on
the sector of mechanical antitheft systems.
On the automotive sector over thirty car manufacturers all over
the world now put their trust in the quality of our products and
services. All departments, including development, engineering, quality
assurance, manufacture, hardening, surface treatment, sales, and
customer services, cooperate at the one source.
Accordingly we can meet the most stringent quality standards in each
and every stage of production. On more than one occasion our quality
has received testimony and awards from the most diverse quarters.
Since 1994 McGard Deutschland GmbH has been dealing with the needs
of our European customers. Since then we could increase the number
of our personnel tenfold! Following this encouraging development
and in view of additional expansion in future, McGard Deutschland
GmbH moved into their new building in Nordheim, Germany, in August
2005.
